Inverters rarely fail without warning. Catching these signs early usually means a cheaper repair and less lost generation.
Warning signs to look for
- Red fault LED or recurring error codes on the display
- Generation falling month on month compared with last year
- Inverter shutting down in the afternoon heat
- Unusual buzzing, clicking or fan noise
- Burning smell or discoloured terminals
- Inverter starting late in the morning or switching off early
- Monitoring data showing gaps or one MPPT producing much less
What to do next
Record the error codes and dates, compare generation with the same month last year, and get the inverter inspected. A preventive inspection costs far less than a breakdown repair after a power-stage failure.
